I hope everybody had a great Friday! A lot of the teachers dressed up for Halloween. Not a lot of the seventh graders, though.
I haven't posted much this week because of projects. An English project and a French project. And, now, a science project, which my science teacher has entitled "The Cell Project" in which we have to make a model of a cell. It is a lot more fun than it sounds, though, because edible projects are encouraged. I am going to make a double batch of shortbread cookie dough and bake it in a pizza pan. I love shortbread cookies.
At lunchtime on Thursday, I was at an oboe lesson, so I heard this from witnesses. If you were there and want to make a correction, comment. Apparently, the vending machine-or the outlet it was plugged into, I've heard different versions-caught on fire. Sparks started shooting out of the outlet and the room filled with smoke. Everyone on the fourth floor had to evacuate the building. Like I said, I wasn't there, so correct this by commenting if it's wrong.
Band was extremely fun. All the seventh grade classes were having parties, so most of the musicians weren't there. I was the first one in the bandroom. The first three people to show up (including Kate and I) got Ring Pops. If you do something really good in band, you get a Ring Pop. We played "Sabre Dance" (from the ballet Gayane) with only a tenor sax (Kate), a baritone, a trumpet, a flute, a clarinet, a trumpet, and an oboe (me). The student teacher was playing the flute, the director was playing the clarinet, and the brass teacher was playing the trumpet. Four people came in a little bit later, including a French horn player, a flautist (Jen), a clarinetist, and a trumpet player. Luckily the people there were really good, so it was fun. We got candy. After school, Ellie told me that my lips were blue--the unfortunate aftereffects of a Ring Pop.
that shortbread cookie was gooooooooood.
ReplyDeleteI meant "Kate and me". Thanks, Jen, I thought so too. And I thought your name was Jen Loves Fall Out Boy?
