There was musical rehearsal after school today. The Whos had rehearsal first onstage, so the people from the other scenes got to see part of ours. One of the lines in our song goes, "Every Christmastime without fail, Mr. Grinch presents his Christmas tale," and we have to try hard to look extremely interested as the Grinch sings, "I reenact my Christmas tale," and then says:

"Every Who down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot- but the Grinch, who lived just north of Whoville, did NOT."

After we heard that, we thought, this is it? That's his whole Christmas tale? We have to look fascinated by that? And then we have to sing a sad little verse of the song about all Whoville's problems (war, deforestation, crashing, drowning, etc.,). Then we sing to Horton the elephant, form Horton Hears a Who:

"And on the other side of town, the Truffula trees were all cut down. They once stood tall in all their glory, but that's another story! So here on Who we live in fear- we're drifting through space and cannot steer, a troubled and a tiny land! Our future's in your hand!"-do elephants have hands?-"It's up to you, sir, please help Who, sir, you're the only one who hears, you must, sir, save our dust, sir, now that we have reached your ears. We're tiny little people saying thanks in advance, hoping per chance you'll try, here on Who, the tiniest planet in the sky!"
