I Am Quite Well This Day, And You?
My friend and I play a game where the words you say must have no more than one sound.
"I will send it to you when I have done all my math work and my... my...um....nice sounds. The nice sounds with the thing I play. The thing with the reeds. I will play Bach, for he has a name with one sound."
"I see. Do you like it or not?"
"Do I like what?"

"Do I like what?"
"Bach on reed thing."
"Ah, yes I do. He's great."
"Ah, yes I do. He's great."
"Oh, it's Wolf that you don't like."
"Wolf?"
"Wolf?"
"Wolf gang."
"Ahh, no. Wolf is the one whom Kate does not like. I just hate the one thing he wrote for my reed thing that I had to play. It's mean. I thought you meant... Not wolf as in the wolf and the boy story where the duck dies? The thing with the boy named... Pete."

Sonnet (II) Chloride
Ah, taking Midterms - oh, such joy, such fun!
First English - ambiguity galore -
Just lovely. Next is Chem, and I for one,
I understand it not. But wait, there's more!
A zillion questions long, plus true-or-false,
Is History, nitpicky, detailed so.
What next? français, and we will danse la valse
When that's fini. Please pity our cerveaux.
And last is precalc, classed all on its own
For special reasons. We'll need luck to pass.
Climb Everest - swim the Channel all alone -
Small feats next to an A in our math class.
Adults - remember this? You think you do.
I tell you now, you've not the slightest clue.

Sonnet for Whomever Administrates This Dumb School System
This June a test I took, 'pon which I did
Quite well. A Bio test it was. I thought
With Bio I was done. I closed the lid
On it fore'er. Dear Bio I forgot.
The year began. We started Chemistry.
Out of my head went all my Bio smarts.
Thus I did all requir'd in Chem of me,
And so know orbitals and atom parts
But now our state officials (oh, curse them!)
Declar'd the Keystone tests--bloodthirst to slake--
To test forgotten Bio, not our Chem.
And 'sthey us sophomores now all have to take.
What wants thou, I thee ask--to cause me pain?
Though Bio's miss'd, now Chem's all I retain.
